Deploy Docker to MeX

This document will walk you through the process of deploying a docker instance to MeX using the MeX console.

Prerequisites:

• node.js (Only if you want to build the app locally)
• git
• docker
• You have a MeX Account
• You know your Organization Name and User Name

Build the Docker Container

Download the Code:

• git clone https://github.com/skydvr01/Docker_NodeJS_Hello_World.git

Build the Docker Image

• From the Docker_NodeJS_Hello_World directory, run docker image build -t test:1.0 . -

  Push to MeX Docker Repository

• Log into the registry: docker login -u <username> docker.mobiledgex.net
• Push your docker image to the registry: docker push docker.mobiledgex.net/<orgname>/images/test:1.0
• Logout from the registry: docker logout docker.mobiledgex.net

Deploy to MeX via Console

Create an App

• Information you will need:
  • Deployment Region: EU
  • Application Name: test
  • Application Version: 1.0
  • Deployment Type: docker
  • Image Type: docker
  • Image Path: docker.mobiledgex.net/demoorg/images/test:1.0
  • Auth Public Key: Leave blank
  • Default Flavor: m4.small
  • Default Privacy Policy: Leave blank
  • Ports: Port 8000, TCP
  • Auto Provisioning Policy: Leave blank
  • Official FQDN: Leave blank
  • Package Name: Leave blank
  • Command: Leave blank
  • Deployment Manifest: Leave blank
• Click on Apps on the sidebar
• Create New App
• Enter Required Information
• Click on “Create”; the console will process your request and return you to the Apps screen where you should see your application.

Create a Cluster Instance

• Information you will need:
  • Deployment Region: EU
  • Cluster Name: testcluster
  • Operator: TDG
  • Cloudlet: munich-main
  • Deployment Type: docker
  • IP Access: dedicated
  • Privacy Policy: Leave blank
  • Flavor: m4.small
• Click on Cluster Instances on the sidebar.
• Click on New
• Enter Required Information
• Click on “Create”; the console will process your request and bring up a progress window.
• Once you close out of the progress window you will be returned to the main Cluster Instance page and you should see your new cluster.

Create an Application Instance

• Information you will need:
  • Region: EU
  • Organization Name: demoorg
  • App Name: test
  • App Version: 1.0
  • Operator: TDG
  • Cloudlet: munich-main
  • Auto Cluster Instance: false
  • Cluster Instance: testcluster
• Click on App Instances on the sidebar
• Click on New
• Enter Required Information ]
• Click on “Create”; the console will process your request and bring up a progress window.
• Once you close out of the progress window you will be returned to the main App Instance page and you should see your new App Instance.

Test Your Application

• Information you will need:
  • All the information you require can be pulled from the details page for the App Instance which can be accessed by clicking on the App Instance row on the App Instance page.
  • We need the FQDN and the Port
  • Now you can either hit the link with a browser or with curl, ala curl http://testcluster.munich-main.tdg.mobiledgex.net:8000
